Dr. O’Donohue earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and both his master’s and doctoral degrees in clinical psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook. Later he earned another master’s degree, this time in philosophy, from Indiana University in Bloomington. He is licensed to practice psychology in Nevada, Maine and Indiana.
At the present time Dr. O’Donohue is a full Professor in the Department of Psychology, University of Nevada, Reno. In the past he was the Nicholas Cummings Chair of Behavioral Healthcare Delivery at UNR (1999-2007), President and CEO of CareIntegra (2000-2010). He is currently also honorary associate professor in the UNR Department of Philosophy, Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, and he maintains a part time private practice in forensic psychology. Outside of Nevada he is Adjunct Professor at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology, Springfield, Missouri. He has authored over 100 articles in refereed journals, over 80 book chapters, and 49 books. He actively continues as a Senior Fellow of the Cummings Foundation for Behavioral Health. He resides in Reno with his psychologist wife, Dr. Jane Fisher, and their two daughters, Katie and Anna.
